“Big fan of Jeff and the work he and his crew at H3 are doing both in helping players mature in their thinking and find great fits at the college level but also in the community helping disadvantaged kids and communities. I’ve known Jeff for 10+ years now and he’s unique in this business. He’s doing things the right way for the right reasons.”

  • Finding the right college that balances sports and academics can be a challenging but rewarding process.
  • Self-Assessment:
    • Determine your academic and athletic priorities. What are your academic interests and career goals? What level of competitiveness are you seeking in your sport?
    • Consider the type of campus environment you prefer, such as urban, suburban, or rural.
  • Academic Requirements:
    • Research colleges that offer strong programs in your chosen field of study.
    • Look for schools that match your academic qualifications and offer the majors or programs you are interested in.
  • Athletic Programs:
    • Identify colleges that have a strong reputation in your sport.
    • Consider the level of competition, such as NCAA Division I, II, or III, or NAIA. Be realistic about your athletic abilities and where you fit in.
    • Contact coaches to express your interest and learn about their expectations for student-athletes.
  • Balancing Academics and Athletics:
    • Research the colleges’ policies on supporting student-athletes academically. Do they offer academic advising, tutoring, and flexible schedules?
    • Talk to current student-athletes to get a sense of their experiences balancing academics and sports.
  • Visit Campuses:
    • Plan campus visits to get a feel for the campus culture, facilities, and academic environment.
    • Attend athletic events to see the level of competition and support for sports programs.
  • Financial Considerations:
    • Understand the cost of attending each college and explore scholarship opportunities for both academics and athletics.
    • Consider whether you’re willing to pursue athletic scholarships or grants-in-aid.
  • Application Process:
    • Start the application process early, paying attention to application deadlines for both academics and athletics.
    • Showcase your athletic achievements through highlight videos, recommendation letters, and sports resumes.
  • College Tours and Interviews:
    • Attend interviews or meetings with coaches and admissions officers.
    • Ask questions about the balance between sports and academics, team culture, and expectations.
  • Decision-Making:
    • Compare your options based on your academic and athletic priorities.
    • Consider the overall fit, including the campus culture and community.
  • Final Decision:
    • Once you receive offers, carefully evaluate your choices and make an informed decision that aligns with your long-term goals.

Remember that the college selection process is highly personal, and what works for one student-athlete may not be the best fit for another. It’s essential to find a college that supports your goals both in sports and academics and provides an environment where you can thrive. Seek guidance from coaches, teachers, counselors, and family members throughout the process to make the best decision for your future.

“Jeff is an exceptional leader and coach, with a true passion for helping others. His work with kids, through
baseball, has been inspirational both for the players he coaches, as well as the families involved. His
compassion and authenticity for his current and past players is truly inspirational. Both on the field and in the
front office, Jeff tirelessly works to improve the opportunities for his players and the communities he works
with. He’s been both a fantastic influence and advocate for my son, constantly demonstrating what it means
to “pay it forward,” while helping my son find the next opportunity that best fits his needs. I can’t recommend
Jeff high enough.”

– Nick Cafferillo, Father of Player Committed to Georgetown

“Jeff has passion for everything he does, whether it’s raising funds and working to restore an historic
baseball field or helping to connect kids with the right baseball programs. Coaches, parents and kids respond
to this passion and authenticity and want to work with Jeff. Jeff seems to have some connection with almost
every major baseball program in the U.S., and coaches want his opinion and respond to him. Equally
important, he knows my son and is able to go beyond the stats and address work ethic, cultural fit and love of
the game that coaches can’t see on a website or video.”

– Frank Winslow, Father of Player Committed to Yale

“Whether it’s in the boardroom or on the field, Jeff is a highly relational and collaborative leader who inspires
others to unearth the better version of themselves. He carries a healthy sense of curiosity about the world
which I think drives his pursuit of adventure and his desire for success. His positive energy and work ethic is
simply unmatched, as no one will outwork him and no one will care for student athletes in ways that will allow
them to be fully expressed in who they are as Jeff will. He’s the perfect balance of likability and capability. He
concerns himself with issues that matter such as, public service, civic engagement and social justice and
leaves inconsequential issues behind.”

– Tabitha Gray, Mother of Currently Engaged Student Athlete

“The recruiting process for high school baseball players can be very stressful for parents and their kids. Jeff provides a
realistic assessment of ability and uses his extensive network of contacts in the baseball world to help find the best fit
for any player. I would certainly recommend Jeff’s services to the family of any baseball player looking to continue their
career in college or beyond.”

– Chris Craytor, Father of Player Committed to Lafayette

“Jeff is a terrific guy who is amazingly talented identifying and matching developing baseball players with appropriate
colleges/teams. He responds quickly, thoughtfully, and thoroughly on a players capabilities and development path.
Highly recommend Jeff as a person in any endeavor.

– James Taussig, Father of Commitment to Radford/UT San Antonio

“The recruiting process for prospective collegiate baseball players can be stressful and daunting. Having Jeff
come alongside to help navigate my son from collegiate hopeful to recipient of multiple offers and finally to the
commitment decision that was right for him and our family was truly a godsend. Jeff’s experience, wisdom and
counsel combined with his extensive network of contacts and constant encouragement made all the difference
in the successful recruitment experience for my son and our family.”

– Shay Sabom, Father of Player Committed to Wofford
